Metzler: Organizations really have not thought about what it specifically means to their organization. What they have been trying to do is adopt a one-size fits all approach and that simply is not going to work. Organizations have to figure out what diversity means to them and why. Secondly organizations have to figure out why diversity is important from a specific perspective. They have relied on one out tactics wherein they may simply send an announcement to the Urban League or a Women’s Organization. That is really not a strategy. It’s really just reactive and as a result of that they have not been able to be successful. If they decide they want to recruit differently that becomes a training issue. They have to train their recruiters. They have to train their managers.
