What certifications are required for childrens products that are tested for lead paint?
For currently effective lead paint limits (600 ppm), general conformity certification is required for products manufactured after November 12, 2008 based on a test of the product or a reasonable testing program for products. Third-party testing of the product for currently effective lead paint limits by accredited third party laboratories is required for products manufactured after December 21, 2008. When the lead paint limit is lowered to 90 ppm on August 14, 2009, third-party testing by accredited third party laboratories will be required for childrens products manufactured after that date.
