What causes the Pro/ENGINEER system colors to be displayed improperly?

Pro/ENGINEER system colors may be displayed improperly or windows may flash as the cursor is moved due to an exhausted hardware colormap. Closing other graphical applications (especially the color-hungry ones like SoftWindows) may resolve the problem. This includes iconized applications. One more way to avoid color-flashing is to use FFB2+ (Creator3D Series 3) or AFB (Elite3D) graphics cards instead of the older Creator3D cards. They have three hardware colormaps. Note that IFB (Expert3D) and latest cards have only one hardware colormap, so they may be more susceptible to color-flashing than Elite3D. You can take advantage of the additional hardware colormaps by specifying “-extovl enable” in the ffbconfig (for Creator3D Series 3) or afbconfig (for Elite3D) command. Finally, as the last resort, you can use Pro/E configuration option OVERLAYS_ENABLED.
