What causes the “Permission Denied” message in Windows?
Our central file servers are running Windows 2003 Storage Server since that gives the department more flexibility with how to share data. The flexibility gained includes sharing data via NFS, SMB, and WebDAV; assigning distinct permissions sets to files and directories including multiple groups or individuals; built-in snapshot technology to recover recently deleted files; and increased availability with clustered file servers. The flexibility comes at a cost, however. One of those costs is that file storage must be reliable even while being accessed in multiple means simultaneously.
