What causes the paralytic ileus?
• Postoperative: ileus usually occurs after any abdominal procedure. • Infection: intra-abdominal sepsis may cause ileus. • Reflux ileus: due to facture spine or ribs, retroperitoneal hemorrhage. • Metabolic disturbance: hypokalemia, uremia are the most common contributory factors.
