The end of the world. The world ends at what looks like a mirage. If you drive far enough you’ll fall off the Earth like as if you tried to drive across a bridge that was washed out.

It’s extremely hot on the asphalt and the air above it is very hot and light and the air above it is denser. When light from an object is coming towards the ground it undergoes total internal refraction due to the density difference and the image we perceive looks like a pool of water.
