What causes the gastric and duodenal ulcer?
The ulcer genesis results from imbalance between the aggressive and defensive factors influencing the stomach or the duodenum mucous membrane: • Aggressive factors include hydrochloric acid, generated in the stomach (as early as in the beginning of the century the rule “no acid – no ulcer” was formulated), bile acids generated by the liver and discharged to the duodenum, reflux of the duodenal contents to the stomach. • Defensive factors include mucus generated by the mucous membrane cells, normal blood circulation, timely repair of the mucous membrane cells. The aggressive factors prevail under the following conditions: blood group (0) I, Helicobacter pylory in the stomach or the duodenum, intake of analgin, acetylsalicylic acid, indometacin, stress, sorrows, coffee abuse, peppery food. In the recent years scientists have become more interested with the new factor of the gastric and duodenal ulcer genesis – Helicobacter pylori (HP) bacterium. HP known to cause the chronic gastritis.
