What causes stain runoff from composition shingle roofs?

0

During the first year of a composition shingle roof’s life, the shingles release a tar by-product commonly referred to as tobacco staining. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with the roof if/when this occurs. The staining will stop after the roof has been exposed to approximately one rainy season. Please contact Property Services at 597-4600 to request cleaning of the stains.
