What causes shoulder tendonitis?
Tendonitis, a common cause of shoulder pain, is an inflammation, or irritation, of one or more tendons of the rotator cuff. Tendonitis may occur as a result of overuse of the shoulder, or as the result of a single injury. Other causes are impingement, friction or rubbing of the rotator cuff against a bone spur or other anatomic variant, as well as poor circulation to the rotator cuff, which can make it difficult or impossible for healing of minor damage to take place.
