What causes red veins?
Smoking is the worst culprit followed by the contraceptive pill, which can cause spider naevii. Pregnancy may also cause red veins and spider naevii but sometimes they disappear after the baby is born. Harsh weather conditions where skin is not protected sufficiently will also cause redveins and drinking alcohol especially spirits is a know cause telangtices especially with men, (many people can easily recognise a whiskey nose!).
