What causes poverty in UK?
The government does not believe poverty can exist in Britain because there is a welfare state. This is because by having a welfare state it means everyone is provided for. For example, If you have no job, you are entitled to income support, if you are earn minimum wage but have a family to support, you are entitled to child benefit, working tax credit if you are too old to work you can get a state pension. However, what the government believes and what is actually happening are two completely different things, which can be seen from all the homeless people on the streets. You can’t get a job if you don’t have a house address, but you cant get a house if you aren’t getting a wage to pay for it, you may be entitled to welfare housing but then you’ll be put on a waiting list. Because the UK has a welfare state there are fewer people living in absolute poverty (no food, shelter or clothing) than in relative poverty (you are poor because you can’t afford to go on holiday whereas your neighb
No rules set out by our parents, we grow up without giving a crap about education or the desire to succeed in life, because we can always get on benefits. The government make it easier to live by not working than to work. Taxes are way too high. Benefit cheats number in the millions in the UK, and they are all scum, if they HAD to get a job and work for there things maybe the attitudes would change and we could better ourselves as a people and a country….
