What Causes pigmented lesions?
Pigmented Lesions, birthmarks, brown spots, and age spots are created from an excessive concentration of melanin in the skin. Melanin is what give skin its color. Everyone has a different amount of melanin in his or her skin. Your physician will evaluate your skin and inform you of the specific type of skin lesion. High concentrations of melanin can be due to various factors. Some types are present at birth, but most occur with age or because of over exposure to the sun.
