What causes people to develop “narcissism” in childhood?

For me, narcissism is like taking self-love to the next level. I mean, its good to love yourself, but not in an over dramatic, obsessive type way. From a dictionary: A Personality Disorder where you have a abnormal desire for ones self, where you lack empathy, and unconscious inadequency of self esteem, due to regression of child development. Also a delusion that you are more important than everyone else. I think that you can find narcissism anywhere, but it may be more common in the US since we are a rich country. Our children are given many material things at a very young age, and they’re used to things just being handed to them. Hope this kind of helped you a bit!
