For a gnawing pain in my left side, I was told that I had IBS and I should take a pain medication. However, I had elevated cholesterol, exhaustion, constipation, difficulty losing weight and trouble with my memory. As a result, I went to an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid function and was prescribed levothyroxine. The pain in my side has disappeared. The pain under my ribs was almost a throbbing pain. It never seemed to move and did not get worse with deep breaths.
