What Causes Overproduction of Yeast in the Body?
Antibiotics Antibiotics have been shown to be responsible for the proliferation of yeast infections. When taken to kill bacterial infections, they kill the bad bacteria and good bacteria. Antibiotics must be taken over an extended period of time (usually 5 to 10 consecutive days) to be effective at killing infections. Low or Weakened Immune Systems Weakened immune systems such as those with HIV and those who have poor eating habits can contribute to yeast infections. Certain medications and a lack of physical activity also are contributing factors. High consumption of sugar can lead to overproduction of yeast infections since the yeast fungi feeds on sugar.
