Myasthenia gravis in children is caused as a result of a very rare, genetic disease. Some infants born with neonatal myasthenia gravis develop it as a result of their mothers suffering from myasthenia gravis. The baby is generally very weak at birth and then slowly attains normal strength. This condition is not a permanent condition as it arises due to the antibodies present in the mother’s body that get transferred to the fetus. Gradually, these antibodies clear away from the infants body, making the baby free from all symptoms of myasthenia gravis in children.
