What causes metal marking to appear on dinnerware?
Stainless steel or other metals such as aluminum that come in contact with dinnerware will mark it, just as a pencil will write on paper. This is because the surface of the ceramic dinnerware is actually harder than these metals. If all of the metal components that come in contact with your dinnerware (i.e. shelves, racks, counter tops, flatware. etc.) are a good grade of stainless steel, you can avoid this problem.
