What causes knocking on the passenger side of my engine?

Many things can cause engine knock. If you are suppose to use super gas and you use regular, that can cause it. If your ignition timing is too far advanced – that too will cause it. I had the same problem. For me it turned out the previous owner advance the timing too much (way too much). Also if you have a “HOT SPOT” inside your piston, that could auto-ignite. For that you spray water into the throttle with the engine running (fine myst). Keep doing it and it will literally STEAM CLEAN the engine. === And yes it happens when you hit the gas and it goes away as the RPM rises (faster speed). Good Luck P.S. You didn’t say exactly what year is your car. For now move up to super gas (even if the factory only required regular) until you fix it. Otherwise engine knock will just destroy your engine.
