What Causes Irritable Bowel?
Irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, mainly affects the large intestine and occurs when the muscles in the large intestine contract faster or slower than normal. IBS appears as an alternating group of symptoms that include cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation. IBS can occur at any age, but it often begins in teens or young adults. The exact cause for IBS remains unknown, but certain factors may contribute to the development of the disorder.
