What causes hormone imbalances?
Once a female reaches puberty, surges of oestrogen and progesterone are a normal part of the monthly menstrual cycle and are expected until the onset of menopause. This rush of female hormones influence our behaviour depending on the time of the natural menstrual cycle. Key to women’s health and wellbeing is keeping a balance between these two hormones. Many factors can influence the levels of the female hormones found in the body and it is known that the absence of certain key macro- and micronutrients will affect hormone release by inhibition or causing an over secretion leading to hormone levels away from the expected norm. These hormone imbalances can lead to a variety of distressing symptoms.
