What Causes Homosexual Desire?
Though no consensus exists among scientists on the question of cause, and while there may be biological influences, present research points most convincingly to psychological and social factors as most determinative. These factors consist of a failure to develop a healthy and mature sense of appropriate gender-identity, with the related inability to relate in positive ways to members of the same sex. There is good reason to believe that homosexual desire is, in essence, a “reparative drive,” an attempt to overcome the basic gender confusion. Can Homosexuals Change?
