What causes Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome?
HAVS is caused by repeated and frequent use of hand held vibrating tools such as chainsaws, pneumatic drills and power drills. HAV’s may also be caused by holding or working with machinery that vibrates. It may also be caused by holding or working with machinery that vibrates. It is unclear how this vibration causes the condition, but is likely to be due to the repeated injury to the small nerves and blood vessels over a period of time.
