What causes foot odor?

0

Foot odor (bromhydrosis) is caused by the bacterial decomposition of normal secretions of the sweat glands. We all have a “garden” of bacteria which normally live on our skin. People with excessive foot perspiration are predisposed to this problem. Treatment is usually aimed at control of the sweating. Please see the previous FAQ about hyperhydrosis. Soaking foot in a solution containing a mild antibacterial agent may be helpful.
