What causes delusional thinking in schitzophrenics?
The mental illness Schizophrenia is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain-probably causes the electrical “firing” in the brain to malfunction. Delusional thinking is one condition of this disease, and fairly common. Doctors say it may be genetic and lies dormant until something, a stress, depression, will kick it off. They are still trying to pinpoint the chemical that does this. \ Using drugs and alcohol has been found to set it off. I know so many young people that have schizophrenia from experimentally using. The drugs can permamently change your brain chemicals. There is no cure for this mental disease!!!!Only medicine that controls the symptoms-delusional, depression ,paranoia,etc. My daughter’s was triggered by stress and anxiety in 7th grade. She is 39 now and has finally found the right medicines to keep her going.
