What causes crystals in dog urine?
I cannot speak directly about crystals in dog urine, but I had a similar problem with a cat. The vet told me that because the cat grazed (ate small amounts throughout the day), the cat’s digestive system remained alkaline and did not break down minerals. He suggested that I allow the cat’s dish to remain empty from time to time. The result was the cats system would become acidic and the stomach acid would dissolve the crystals. I followed the advice and the cat’s urinating problems soon went away. Again, this was cat advice, but it may be relevant.
