What causes constant headaches?
The pain in your head and your arm could well be linked, and both be due to an underlying problem in your neck. Slight arthritis and inflammation in between the bones of the top of the spine can cause tension on both the surrounding ligaments, and also in the muscles that provide extra support to the neck. These muscles extend up right over the scalp, to the forehead, and any tension in them is often felt as a headache, which can vary from a dull ache to quite a severe pain. Spasms around the neck can also cause pressure on the nerves as they leave the spine, which can lead to both pain and pins and needles in the shoulder, arm and hand. Like anyone suffering from chronic, severe headaches you should see your doctor for a check-up, but you may also find some gentle manipulation of your neck very helpful.
