What Causes Calcium Deposits in Breast?
Basically, calcium deposits on breast develops when crystals of calcium phosphate and collagen, a type of insoluble proteins present in tissues clump up together. It may occur in other parts of the body like the hips, shoulders, hands as well. Usually, this is a part of the degeneration process of the breasts that may be triggered by aging, injury or inflammation of the breasts. Fibroadenomas is a harmless non-cancerous growth in the breast which is believed to be formed due to lowering in the levels of hormones in menopausal phase. Calcium deposits may occur on this structure. Breast cysts are round or oval shaped fluid filled sacs formed in women in their 30s and 40s and disappear after menopause. If they continue to exist after that, then they may get calcium deposits on them. Other calcium deposits in breast causes are the problems associated with milk duct.
