Spotting can occur before start of periods or at the end of the periods. Spotting also can occur at any other day of the cycle. Spotting can occur when there is slight drop in the hormonal levels but this drop in the hormones is not below the bleeding threshold. Drop in the hormonal levels can be due to stress or any other condition that causes hormonal imbalance.
