What caused the Mt.Fuji eruption in 1707?

Volcanic eruptions are caused by increased pressure in the magma chamber beneath a volcano. Before eruptions, there are numerous small earthquakes beneath the volcano, which indicates movement of magma in the magma chamber. This doesn’t mean an eruption is about to happen, though. Why did it erupt in 1707? I guess it was just time for it to relieve built up pressure. It’ll happen again.
