A lack of corrdination and communication between the forces in Cuba and JFK. Also, the landing location where the invasion began had one road in and out (changed last minute by JFK from Eisenhower’s designated landing point, which was a terrible decision) therefore they were trapped. Also, the whole fiasco was that CIA agents were with the invasion force which linked the invasion to the United States. JFK refused support for the force on the ground because he was not aware of the CIA agent’s presence among the force and was still wanting to deny any involvement in the operation (although it was pretty obvious) So to sum it up, it was many things: A lack of communication, coordination, a bad landing spot, and some bad decisions by the CIA and definately some very stupid decisions on JFK’s part (honestly the best thing he did was get shot because he didnt actually do anything else other than screw things up.
