What caused the end of the renaissance?
There’s no specific date for when the Renaissance ended, but the general consensus is it was succeeded by the Protestant Reformation and the Age of Religious Wars in the 16th and 17th Centuries. The Renaissance begain in Italy and from there spread beyond the Alps and into Northern and Western Europe. The Renaissance encouraged Humanistic thought and philosophy, which prepared the setting for the academic freedoms which gave rise to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th Century in Germany and beyond. The Protestant Reformation gradually lead to the Age of Religious Wars, which was a series of conflicts between Catholic and Protestant Europe.
