What caused the battel of lexington and concord?
The British attempted to sieze the war munitions stored by the Americans in the town of Concord, Massachusetts, as well as arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. The fighting began when Colonial Minutemen engaged the British in Lexington, Mass. The engagement led to the retreat of the British back to Boston, all the while sustaining heavy casualties (73 dead, 174 wounded). The Minutemen harrassed their foe all the way back to the city, suffering only 49 dead, and 39 wounded.
