What careers are available to trained mediators?
Many mediators establish private practices, particularly if they can couple negotiation skills with extensive knowledge of a specialty area such as construction, discrimination, domestic relations, health care, insurance, landlord-tenant rights or real estate. Others find employment as mediators with state and local governments, corporations or community mediation centers. Of course, conflict resolution is a skill valued by all employers, in any job setting.
