what car cd players have the song title & artist listed on the faceplate while the song is playing?
Audio CD’s don’t actually have the title/artist data encoded onto them. When you play a CD on your computer using Windows Media Player or WinAmp, that program actually accesses a database called Gracenote CDDB on the internet to find the information, and it finds that by comparing samples of the digital music itself. Car audio systems generally do not have access to the internet, and the entire database is a bit huge to carry around. Besides, if they did carry the whole database, it’d be frozen and new CDs recorded after the database was downloaded would not be identifiable. Some car CD players can play MP3 CD’s, and MP3 CD’s do carry this data. So, if you’re looking for one of those, just find an MP3 CD player with a large front display and chances are it’ll be able to display title and artist info. This will only work when it’s playing MP3 CD’s, though, which most computer CD burners can create now.
