What capabilities do the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech bring to CCAM?
The University of Virginia (UVA) and Virginia Tech (VT) combined receive more than $700 million in federally funded research, enroll more than 9,000 undergraduate engineering students, enroll more than 3,000 graduate engineering students, produce more than 1,600 undergraduate engineering degrees each year, and produce more than 1,000 graduate engineering degrees each year. Both engineering programs are ranked in the top 75 such programs in the world. The engineering programs at the two universities combined have more than 500 faculty members conducting research and educational programs in all engineering disciplines with particular relevant strengths in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, and materials science and engineering. UVA and VT have combined forces to create CCAM and have committed to add 11 new faculty members at each engineering school to strengthen and broaden engineering capabilities relevant to CCAM and a second res
