What CANADIAN university is best (reputation-wise)?
Overall reputation wise, UBC and McGill are probably the best known, but really depends on what you’re looking for. McMaster, Calgary and Alberta are very solid overall – can’t go wrong with them. SFU is usually classified differently since it doesn’t offer the same programs overall (e.g., no medical or law school) but what it does offer is very good indeed and unique from the others. Go with what they do best vs. general reputation though. A crap program at McGill will not be better than an excellent program at Alberta. For general rep rankings, check the Macleans’ magazine university survey. All those picks are top of their respective categories, with SFU being top of the comprehensive school list this year.
