What can we do to encourage more turtles to nest at Ihuru and Vabbinfaru?
Reduce the amount of light, which disturbs and deters adult females to emerge and lay eggs. Because adult turtles do not like bright lights, they might not emerge on a beach where bright lights shine. However, this is not to say the resort cannot use lights, rather, the concept of shaded lights, which maintain some dark patches on the beach are encouraged.
