What can TIMSWeb be used for?
TIMSWeb can be used for several uses: powerful browsing, Project Navigator OCX and TIMS3 Address Book OCX. It can be installed as either a local intranet or as an external extranet. Powerful browsing, viewing and download is available through the standard TIMSWeb interface. Users can browse a wide variety of project, document and system data and meta-data using simple query forms. This is an ideal interface for people who need to browse information and gain read-only privileges to documents. Additionally, these browsers do not need to purchase any client licenses to access information. The Project Navigator OCX (PNav OCX) and TIMS3 Address Book OCX are the same as their respective non-OCX client programs. The difference between the applications is that OCX components allow users to gain access to the TIMS3 system from non-trusted domains. Concurrent client licenses would need to be purchased to accommodate the PNav OCX users just like the regular PNav.
