What can the department spend the Roberts money on?
Any experience which can be shown to give the opportunity for development of the skills outlined in the JSS (C-G) and that is complemented by reflection by the participant on that development can be funded by Roberts money. It is not the intention that Roberts money be spent for the benefit of individual staff and students, rather on opportunities for all or groups of the department’s postgraduate researchers. Inter-departmental, inter-institutional and regional collaboration is encouraged. Buying in trainers and experts to facilitate training/development opportunities is an acceptable use of money; as is paying for catering for events. In all cases departments should be looking to make the best possible use of the funds available.
