What can the community expect from a Music Commission website?
Commission: A one stop shop for Memphis Music – an information hub, which would include the following: a city-wide event calendar and a directory for musicians, artists, venues, and related industries. This is where Christopher stood up. Christopher: I have a problem with that. As a business that already provides those services I see that as direct competition, especially when there is a limited supply of resources to fund such an endeavor. This is where some board members got extremely defensive. Seriously, they took it very personally. And then some yelling back and forth started… Sarah: I’d like to explain this a bit better. We see this the same as if you guys said you were going to set up a recording studio (with taxpayer money), putting yourselves in direct competition with all the people in town trying to make a living running recording studios.
