Make sure the dance floor is directly in front of the band. There are times, both in wedding receptions and corporate parties, where the band is distanced from the dance floor either by tables, ice sculptors, wedding cakes, etc. This is a very poor choice if you want your guests to interact with the band and feel comfortable to dance. What looks good on paper aesthetically does not always work well in practice.
