Gretna Green used to be the place were young people eloped to get married without their parents permission before they were eighteen, the ceremony took place over the local anvil by the local blacksmith. The ceremony now is carried out by the usual registry official in a place licenced for the ceremony, it’s become very tourist orientated and is not a cheapie any more.
