What can people expect to learn from participating in a BOSS course?
A. On almost all courses, you will learn traditional skills like friction fires and shelter construction. On Field Courses, you will also learn about your body s capabilities, its strengths and weaknesses, and your ability to handle different stresses. This is, after all, a major component of our curriculum and of our philosophy — learning how to do more with less. On all BOSS courses, we hope you leave with a greater competency in wilderness skills and an appreciation for the natural world. We also hope you appreciate what it takes for traditional cultures to live in the wilderness without all the modern trappings of Western culture and modern backcountry travel.
