What can people do to help stop animal abuse & neglect?
The first and main thing people can do to stop neglect is to have their pets spayed and neutered. Reducing the numbers of unwanted pets is the only way to reduce neglect and abuse. If you see abuse or neglect, their are things you can do. First, contact your local police department, sheriff’s office or animal control department. If you don’t get results, go higher. Call the mayor, chief of police or the sheriff. If you don’t get satisfaction there, go higher!! The governor, senators and state representatives need to know what is happening in their communities. Turning the other way and ignoring a situation will not make it improve. We humans are the only voice abused and neglected animals will ever have, and they need to be heard.
