What can one expect if one doesn have the surgery and the NPH is left untreated?
Although there are no scientific studies that have looked at this question, experienced neurosurgeons and neurologists suggest that the condition continues to progress at a relatively slow but constant pace. There does not seem to be any one precipitous event after which symptoms suddenly significantly worsen. However, there is some early informal evidence that suggests chances of recovery are better if surgery occurs within three years of the onset of symptoms.
