What can Michael Redd still provide?
Redd is entering the final year of a max contract that is set to pay him $18.3 million. Unfortunately, he may not have anything left to offer. Each of his past two seasons have ended with ACL and MCL tears to the same knee. He also tore an ACL in his days of playing at Ohio State. He’ll be 31 in August, and the Bucks have to be wondering how much professional basketball he has left. He’s played a grand total of just 51 games in the past two seasons, and when he was on the court last season, the team struggled. It would be irresponsible to think that Redd could be the team’s starting shooting guard next season. Whatever he can provide, it should come as a reserve, and the Bucks should be thankful for any positive he brings to the season. His greatest worth lies in his expiring contract. It’s only a matter of time before teams are looking to exchange assets for expiring deals, and that reality could come as soon as September for several teams. Redd had a nice run of six straight seasons
