What can i use a large mortar & pestle to make?
You could make some really cool spice blends or seasoned salts in large quantities and store them in jars or baggies. You can also make a rub for roasts or poultry by mixing in herbs and then enough olive oil to make a paste. You can also use it to bash up garlic (use coarse salt to help the garlic break down) You could make a great fresh pasta sauce, salsa or guacamole in it. For the pasta sauce, bash up garlic, then add fresh or canned tomatoes and seasonings. For salsa, add the garlic, herbs, onion and lastly tomatoes. bash all the ingredients to release their juices. For guacamole, bash up the garlic, lemon juice, salt & pepper, cilantro or parsley, fresh tomato, onion and bash them all together. Lastly, add in the chunks of avocado and grind them in until it is as smooth as you like. I prefer it on the chunky side.
