What can i give my 5 week old baby boy?
It is normal for a baby to go without a BM for up to 4 days. I have twin girls and they weren’t gaining enough weight with just breast milk. You dont have to just give him formula, try doing half and half. That is what I did and they started to gain weight and still are getting the breast milk. If you dont want to do that then it is safe to give him 1 once of apple juice a day, just dilute it with water. The apple juice will give him the extra fiber that will help. Dont use the Karo syrup because the way that works it gives the baby a sugar induced BM. The Karo syrup has sugar a lot and the baby cant digest that much so the extra is pushed out through the intestines. Not good. You can also try a splitz bath on him, only if his cord is off. Run a warm bath and sit with him in the water. Also you can try holding his legs up against his belly and moving them up and down.
