You will not be able to pass a state emmisions test without it. If you are caught without a catalytic converter, you can face heavy fines and possibly have your car impounded. More importantly, removing the catalytic converter from a car with a smaller engine like yours will actually hurt your performance. Smaller engines are reliant upon back pressure to produce horsepower and torque. Having an exhasut system that is too free flowing or too big will reduce your backpressure and hurt your performance. It also makes your car sound absolutely terrible.
