What can I do when I cannot obtain an ethernet address?
Some Macintosh models (5400, 6500, G3) need to be connected to a network in order to report their hardware ethernet address. Connect them to a known live jack to get the hardware address and then register the machine in NetConnect. Windows 95 presents a special problem obtaining ethernet addresses on a machine that has a modem or dial-up adaptor installed. In NetConnect, never permanently leave a field blank. A new connection request is not queued for processing if any fields are left blank.
